Students Continue to Experience STEM

Students in grades kindergarten through grade five continue to have weekly STEM class as part of their “specials” class rotation. During the first half of the year, DIS students learned coding basics on the website Code.org, participated in different design challenges including: spaghetti towers, wind powered cars, and paper rollercoasters.  The classes also learned through utilizing robots such as the Ozobot, Sphero, Dash, and Dot.  Pictured below are fifth grade students playing “battleship” with the Sphero.  The students used their knowledge of coordinate planes and plotting points to help code their Sphero to hit the opposing teams.
