District Launches Facebook Page/Communication Reminders
The Dallas School District Facebook Page will launch this week. Be sure to follow us for news and information about the District. The page will be used for outgoing communication only and will not take the place of automated texts or the website.
As you prepare to come back to school, review these communication reminders and suggestions.
-
Check the district website regularly. An updated district calendar, increased news posts, and links to all other district pages can be found on the district website. Visit building web pages for additional specific information.
-
Partner with your child and visit Google Classrooms. Nearly every classroom has a created Google Classroom that your child has access to for homework and class information. Sit with your child and review Google Classrooms regularly to review course content and expectations.
-
Update Contact information and receive automated texts. Using the link on our website, be sure to update your contact information in CSIU to receive automated texts. District texts are the primary tool for communicating brief updates efficiently and used regularly.
-
Review and update your CSIU account. Parents and families should check students’ grades regularly using the CSIU System. Use the link on our website to update login information to access students’ grades throughout the school year.
-
Sign up for teacher specific communication tools. Many teachers use applications to communicate with parents and families. Tools like Remind and ClassDojo are examples of teacher initiated apps to sign up for. Teachers will review these tools at Back to School Events.
-
Contact your teacher via email. All faculty and staff have district provided email. Use email to share information or for questions. Many times, email is brief and if a longer discussion is needed a phone call or meeting is scheduled.
-
Call your child’s principal. If questions remain after employing the available communication methods, or as needed, reach out to your building principal. Phone and email contact will be returned in a timely manner.
-
Reach out to district administrators. Parents and families should contact teachers, then principals, but may also reach out to district administrators including the director of special education, the director of operations and the superintendent by email and phone as needed.
Students’ success in part relies on effective home and school communication. Employing the above communication methods will assist in strengthening the partnership between parents/families and school resulting in greater support for students.
